About The Blues :
This page was developed to give a brief history and state the mission of the Kazoo Blues.
The Kalmazoo AAU Basketball Development Program (Kazoo Blues) was founded in 1980. As a testament to the success of the program, over 200 players who have played for the Kazoo Blues for two or more years, have gone on to play basketball at the collegiate level. Three former players won the coverted Michigan Mr. Basketball Award, while fifteen players have gone on to play basketball professionally.Located in southwestern Michigan, in Kalamazoo, the Kazoo Blues have attracted players from across the state because of its reputation as a high quality teaching program. Since its inception, every year the Kazoo Blues have participated in the Michigan state AAU tournament and gone on to compete in the National AAU Boys Championships in some age division.Initially formed as a basketball program for boys, the Kazoo Blues expanded in 1987 to create a girls program. Cultural enrichment and foreign travel have also been a significant part of the program. Kazoo Blues teams have traveled to Finland, Sweden, South America, Russia, Spain and Australia to play against world-class competition and broaden the cultural horizons of the players.

MISSION OF THE BLUES.
The mission of the Kalamazoo AAU Basketball Development Program is to provide youth with additional avenues for developing and improving their basketball skills through supervised practices and sanctioned competition. Cultural enrichment and increased exposure to college recruiters will be significant to the operations of Kazoo Blues' programs. The Kazoo Blues will promote good sportsmanship and good citizenship.

BLUES VISION
Through participation in Kazoo Blues programs, youth will achieve their dreams as athletes and as valued citizens of their communities.
